Who are we?

PEERS for Young Adults

PEERS for Young Adults

We are licensed behavior analysts (BCBAs) who have worked in the field of applied behavior analysis for over 20 years.  We are certified in PEERS for Preschoolers, PEERS for Adolescents and PEERS for Young Adults (there is no certification for CFG).  We believe in the power of connection and friendships and look forward to working with you and your child/friend.

'OTP' are the initials of three important children in our lives but also stands for 'One True Pairing' which we think is poetic in our journey towards making (at least!) one true friend.

Candidates for Group

There are a few prerequisites for a successful social skills group intended to teach the skills of making and keeping friends.

Social Motivation

Does the applicant (besides preschoolers) truly want to make a friend? Lack of social motivation can work against the goals of the group and discourage other members.  Therefore, if the applicant is not motivated to make a friend, they may not be suitable for group enrollment.

Ability to Have a Conversation

Sufficient language skills are necessary to carry on a conversation.  The applicant must be able to approach another peer and ask and answer questions.  The applicants will be working toward assessing if they have things in common for friendship.

Motivated and Involved Social Coach

Applicants must have the same social coach come each week for continuity of learning and social support.  Weekly homework is assigned and the social coach is as accountable as the applicant.  We know this is a big ask and appreciate your commitment towards supporting the applicant in the process of making and keeping friends.
